HydroApps has rolled out enhanced password management tools for Admin users, providing better security and easier workflows when supporting team accounts.

What’s New?

Stronger Security Measures

  • We’ve updated our encryption and password management processes to help protect user accounts even more effectively.

Managing Passwords as a Manager

  • Set a New Password: When editing a user profile, managers can still update passwords—but now you won't be able to view them, adding another layer of security. You’ll need to notify the user securely if you choose to set it manually.

  • Send a Reset Link: Prefer self-service? Click the email icon next to a user to send a password reset link. This sends a one-time-use code directly to the user’s inbox so they can set their own password.

  • Create New Users Securely: When creating new users, you can either:

    • Set a password manually and send it securely, or

    • Leave it blank and let HydroApps generate a temporary password. In that case, you'll need to either send a reset email or direct the user to use the “Forgot Password” link.

Reminder: Always follow best practices when sharing login information. Never send passwords via unsecured channels.

FAQ

Why are we making this change?

  • We are updating our password encryption and management process to increase security for all user accounts and make it easier for users to reset their passwords on their own.

What is different?

  • We have updated the algorithm used for encrypting passwords and changed the forgot password self-service option to reset passwords instead of sending them to users.

  • Managers in admin roles - you will no longer be able to see a user's password but you can still change their password as needed. Sending a user their login email will allow them to navigate directly to your HydroApps site and update their password immediately.

Will my password change?

  • No - your password will not change! You will use the same username and password you have been using to login.

I am a manger - what should I share with my staff on their passwords?

  • You can share that we have updated our self-service forgot password process to make it easier and more secure for them to change their password! We have a Help Center video outlining how employees can reset their password that you can share with your team!
