Sometimes life happens—and when it does, HydroApps makes it easy to request a sub or trade a shift with a teammate. This guide walks you through how to submit a sub/trade request from your Schedule Dashboard.
Steps to Request a Sub or Trade
Go to your Schedule Dashboard
Log in to your HydroApps account and click the My Schedule button to view your shifts.
Select the shift you need coverage for
Browse your upcoming shifts and click on the one you can no longer work.
Click "Request a Sub or Trade Shift"
A pop-up window will appear where you can submit your request.
(Optional) Add a note
Let your team know why you need coverage. For example: "Need to attend a doctor’s appointment."
Submit your request
Click the Request a Sub or Trade Shift button to finalize your submission.
💡 Tip: Once submitted, your shift will appear in the pool of open shifts that other staff can view and request to pick up.
Things to Keep in Mind
Manager approval may be required before the trade is finalized (depending on your organization's settings).
Requesting a sub does not guarantee coverage—keep an eye on your schedule to make sure it gets picked up or follow up with a teammate.
You’ll be notified when another staff member accepts your shift or if your manager approves the request.
